Since the start of the pandemic, CEI has doubled down to help small business owners of all backgrounds and their workers and families survive the crisis and look toward recovery. To build a future marked by shared prosperity, we need to keep small businesses operating and minimize the negative impact on their employees. Every small business that stays open or expands strengthens our economy and workforce for the future.

From business advice to debt relief, new financing and policy advocacy, we are working hard and creatively to ensure that Maine emerges from this crisis strong and with a more inclusive economy.

While we take some comfort that our state’s economy is 86% of where it was in March, according to Moody’s Analytics, we know it’s no accident that Maine leads most states in that metric. But we are apprehensive about the coming winter.

The work we do is only possible with the support of our donors and funders. The leadership and humanity of Mainers, our small businesses—and you—are more important than ever and can serve as an example to the rest of the country.

Please consider a donation to this year as you plan your year-end gifts. With you, we are building an economy that lifts all people.

On behalf of our team and the entrepreneurs, families and communities we serve, thank you. You are helping us to rise and meet the opportunities and challenges faced by so many. We could not do it without you.

CEI is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. CEI’s tax identification number is EIN 01-0347504.

“We are grateful for the opportunity given to us and other businesses by CEI. It will give us a fighting chance and make a difference through the winter. Thank you for looking out for small businesses in our community.”
