Chair Emerita of Maine Angels (2011-15), Member since 2008. While Chair, I grew membership in the angel investment network from 30 to > 70 members, and was recognized by Mainebiz (the state biweekly biz magazine) as a “2013 Woman to Watch”. M.A. has now invested over $31M in over 85 companies (Jan ’21), and increased gender diversity (from 3 women in 2008, to 30 female members for 33% of its 90 members). Maine Angels invests exclusively in startup companies headquartered in New England or from a syndicated deal lead referral from a known investment partner.
Investment Advisory Board for the Dirigo Angel Fund 1, a “side car” fund to the Maine Angels’ investment and diligence process. A $2.4M fund focused on scaling growth oriented startups at least 50% Maine based ventures, and target of 25% female founded or led deals.
Board of Trustees CEI Ventures, Inc. which manages socially responsible venture capital funds, and has raised 4 VC funds since ’94 investing > $26 million in nearly 50 companies. Currently raising for Fund 5 “Good Jobs Fund”
Co-founder of NNE WIN (Northern New England Women’s Investor Network) A collaboration between ME, NH & VT women coming together to engage, learn & connect with others interested in Angel & impact investing, to activate financially accredited women to engage as angel investors in our respective tristate areas.
Vice Chair Education grantmaking committee, and active Trustee since 1988 in a family grant-making foundation in Illinois. Past President of the Board of Trustees (2013-2021), Past Chair of the Exec. Comm, and the P&C (Performance & Compensation) Committees, and Acting Chair of the Board (2013-2020).
Personal entrepreneurial experience as a PC consultant; real estate broker; and co-owner of North Atlantic Inc., a commercial fishing brokerage & vessel ownership & management company.
Past advisory committee member of Maine Accelerates Growth (MxG), and Maine Center for Entrepreneurs’ (MCE) Maine Mentor Network and a past entrepreneur mentor for their Top Gun accelerator program (a program I helped launch in 2009 while Office Manager & Program Coordinator at MCED (Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development now known as MCE – Maine Center for Entrepreneurs).
Founding member of MAINECANDO.ORG A consortium of professional Maine women who propelled forward a public pledge of workplace policies and action to create inclusive workplaces free of harassment, and created a website as an informative curated resource for Maine businesses & startups, investors, non-profits, volunteer organizations and boards.
