Jill Lorom

Financial Development Counselor

About Jill

Jill Lorom is a Financial Counselor at Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI), a Maine-based community development financial institution with a mission to build just, vibrant and climate-resilient futures for people and communities in Maine and rural regions by integrating finance, business expertise and policy solutions in ways that make the economy work more equitably.

Jill is passionate about helping clients understand credit scoring and how to protect, build, or repair their credit. Jill helps clients identify and modify ineffective money management behaviors to help them build or improve their credit history and develop successful strategies for achieving financial goals.  Additionally, Jill provides student loan counseling services and is certified by the Financial Counseling Association of America ( FCAA ).  Jill is also a Certified Accredited Financial Counselor through the Association for Financial Counseling, Planning and Education (AFCPE), and has successfully completed the Credit Builders Alliance (CBA), “Credit as an Asset” and “Credit as Asset: Small Business” programs.  Jill is a member of the Maine CA$H Coalition, a statewide VITA program.

30+ years ago, as a newly single mother with 3 children, I found safe and affordable housing through CEI  that came with a mentor. The advice, wisdom and encouragement I got from having a mentor was invaluable and eventually I landed a great job at CEI and have been providing advice and encouragement to clients for the last twenty-six years!
