in partnership with:
Spokeswomen: a facilitated peer group designed to help female entrepreneurs become more persuasive and effective communicators.
We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a virtual version of Spokeswomen in partnership with the Island Institute this fall.
How does it work? Through this highly interactive 8-week online program, participants will develop their own personal style by deepening their understanding of persuasive tools and practicing storytelling through a range of speaking scenarios. Participants will practice delivering planned speeches, providing and giving feedback, initiating difficult conversations, and improvising. The Spokeswomen cohort will have a maximum of 8 participants in order to allow for ample speaking opportunities in the allotted two-hour meeting window. The cohort meets virtually for 2 hours weekly (Thursdays from 4pm-6pm) for 8 weeks.
When does Spokeswomen begin? We will be kicking off our Fall 2020 Spokeswomen cohort on October 1. Upon registering, we will contact you and ask you to complete a short questionnaire to help us learn more about your goals. We will review your responses and contact you with program details, as well as any questions we might have to ensure that this program is the right fit for you.
What happens at the end of the course? The course will culminate with a virtual speaking event, at which each participant will present their “goal speech”. This event will be open to friends, family, and the public.
Who should sign up? Female entrepreneurs who are currently in business.
How much does the program cost? In light of the pandemic, we will be offering this program free of charge. Please note that this program typically costs $250 per person.
What if my business does not entail public speaking? Spokeswomen will help to build your comfort with speaking up in all kinds of situations that you may find yourself in as an entrepreneur — making a pitch, speaking in front of groups, interviewing, selling, negotiating, and more. No matter what kind of business you own, your ability to communicate your message is essential.
Program dates & times: Spokeswomen will meet on Zoom from 4pm-6pm on the following dates: October 1, October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29, November 5, November 12, November 19.
