Join us June 23rd at 1:00 pm for How She Built That featuring Hilary Crowell of The Cultivated Thread, a small-batch weaving studio in Mid Coast Maine.
Hilary started The Cultivated Thread in early 2020 with a focus on handwoven wearables and home goods. As the COVID-19 pandemic began to unfold, Hilary quickly realized that she would not be able to sell her artisan handwoven goods at local fairs, festivals and farmer’s markets during the summer as planned. She worked closely with the WBC to make the jump from in-person selling to e-commerce, initially focusing on developing a strong website and social media presence.
Over the past year, The Cultivated Thread has gained national recognition and is fast becoming one of the most sought after brands in Maine. Hilary will share her story and how she made the jump from brand new business owner to a thriving Maine based brand, which has been featured in The Lost Kitchen online market, Portland Eat, Drink, Lucky newsletter, the November Maker Edition of Decor Maine Magazine and as guest on Makers of Maine Podcast. You won’t want to miss this inspiring tale of Maine made entrepreneurship!
