Community Facility Financing

Who can apply?

Nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and federally recognized Tribes in Maine and rural regions throughout the U.S.

Projects must be located in towns of less than 20,000 people.

WHAT kind of project?

Priority is given to projects that meet one of the USDA’s distressed county or high poverty census tract designations.

  • Health Care facilities such as hospitals, medical and dental clinics, nursing homes or assisted living facilities
  • Public facilities such as town halls, courthouses, airport hangars, transportation facilities, fire departments, police stations, prisons, police vehicles, fire trucks, public works vehicles or equipment
  • Community, social, or cultural services such as childcare centers, community centers, food banks and pantries, fairgrounds, transitional housing, libraries or schools

Why consider it?

Fixed rate, long-term financing (30+ years) at 5-6%

Process

Community facility projects typically take three to four months from application to closing.
