Matthew Lewis

Executive Director, Four Directions

About Matthew

Matthew is a citizen of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Sipayik with comprehensive expertise in non-profit sectors and community development financial institutions. He is the Executive Director at Four Directions Development Corporation. In this role, Matthew champions the preservation of Wabanaki culture and traditions through economic development efforts. Matthew has over a decade of experience working alongside Municipal, State, Tribal, and Federal Governments, administering revolving loan funds and executing community development projects.

Matthew brings deep expertise in CDFI operations and funding mechanisms, including SBA Microloans, SBA PRIME, USDA RMAP, FAME REDRLP, SSBCI 2.0, and CDBG grant programs. He is a committed advocate for community development and serves on the boards of the CDFI Coalition, UpStart Maine, the Abbe Museum, and the Holden Land Trust.

Outside of his professional life, Matthew enjoys crafting intricate Excel formulas, tinkering with electronics to automate household tasks, and exploring the scenic Maine woods with his wife and daughter.
