Business Advisor / Program Director – Women’s Business Center at CEI

CEI is seeking a Business Advisor/Program Director to work with the Women’s Business Center (“WBC”) at CEI. This position is based in Farmington, Maine and serves clients throughout the State with a mix of in-person and online offerings. The Business Advisor/Program Director works with women business owners by facilitating start-up, survival and business expansion; providing business planning, management development, and assistance with preparing for and obtaining financing.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Business Advisor / Program Director offers one on one business advising to women entrepreneurs. The position develops local partnerships and represents the Women’s Business Center and CEI within the communities we service. The Business Advisor / Program Director works with other WBC staff to organize and present workshops on a variety of business-related topics. The Business Advisor / Program Director manages communications and reporting to funders for the WBC.

This position is based in Farmington, Maine and will likely see clients in-person in surrounding counties to include Franklin, central and western Maine, and some of the midcoast. The Business Advisor / Program Director will also serve clients in other parts of the state remotely. Due to the client-facing nature of this role, telecommuting to Farmington is not an option. In-state travel to meet with clients and to attend once a month staff meeting in our Brunswick central office is required.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualified candidates are knowledgeable in all aspects of business management, planning and business financing – especially relating to women in business; are client focused, professional, results-driven, excellent listeners and communicators, work collaboratively, are comfortable presenting in front of small and large groups, and are proficient with business and office software and technology.

Candidates must have a college degree, preferably in business management or significant related business and/or professional experience. An advanced degree, especially an MBA, highly desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ related business and/or professional experience. Prior business ownership is also very beneficial and desirable.
