Your Money Experiences

Consider the emotions that arise when you hear the word "money" and be aware that "money management" is a loaded topic. Everyone has had different experiences with money and brings different emotions to the table. Be aware of this as you go through this workbook and honor any feelings of frustration, triumph, self-doubt, etc. that bubble to the surface.

Start by thinking about past experiences you have had with money. This could include things you know about yourself: you may have had trouble paying bills on time, you might carry a balance on your credit cards, perhaps you are good at saving money, your parents spent money quickly, or your grandparents were very stringent savers.

All of these factors probably play a role in the way you use and think about money today. As you make plans to save for a new asset, keep your personal experience with money in mind—both for the strengths it can provide and the changes you may have to make.
