Medical Care Development Project (MCD) PDF Print E-mail

"MCD's mission is to improve the health and well being of people.  We will do this in partnership with communities, organizations and governments.  We pledge to develop and operate creative, compassionate, and practical programs that result in the delivery of services that will improve health status."

The MCD/CEI ETAG was the result of the reprogramming of the OCS/FCR grant for Somerset and Oxford Counties and anticipated that 50 jobs would be created during a three-year period.  Between August 1, 1998 and September 30, 2001, over 75 new or replacement positions were recruited for and filled by many participants referred through the CEI Service Provider network, including the Maine TANF ASPIRE Program and DOL/WIA Programs.  These jobs were primarily entry-level, direct care positions working with clients of the Maine Departments of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS).  During this period, entry wages for inexperienced staff rose from $6.00 hr. to $7.50 hr. with the average wage for direct care staff over $9.00 hour.  Benefits include company-paid on-the-job training, 100% employer-paid medical/dental insurance, and a cafeteria-style benefits package consisting of 24 paid non-work days per year, life insurance, and a 403 (b) plan.  Additionally, all employees benefit from the MCD Quality Assurance Program, a company-wide staff investment strategy to sustain re-certification and/or skills training in workplace/patient best practices.

Medical Care Development is a health care industry leader, promoting policy initiatives while supporting and sustaining the skills of its workforce, for the benefit of Maine people.
