  • Become a referral partner

Our referral partners are important to the successful implementation of our Employment and Training Agreement (ETAG) established between CEI and our job-generating companies. Many of our community and state partners support new and dislocated workers to transition into existing and newly-created jobs by offering a variety of incentives and services.

  • Advertise your job openings for free

A CEI-financed business can list job vacancies with CEI by contacting our Wiscasset office. CEI will broadcast the opening to employment, training and educational institutions and programs located in the vicinity of your business that can refer qualified candidates. In addition to CEI, CareerCenters can advertise job openings on America's Job Bank. (LINK TO CAREERCENTER - http://www.mainecareercenter.com )

  • Wage reimbursement

Many of our referral partners provide a 50% wage reimbursement over a period of time for job seekers referred to your business to help compensate for costs associated with training a person on the job. CEI will ensure you get this benefit if the selected job candidate is referred by an entity that offers this compensation.

  • Customized Skills Training

Businesses may be eligible for training assistance tailored to meet their company's specific needs. This can be accessed several ways. Generally, training for targeted populations is at the heart of many of our workforce development projects. Businesses who participate in these projects contribute to the training design, ensuring that elements of the training program include skills they require in their hirees.

The State of Maine also funds training for eligible Maine businesses. Program staff can provide you with information and help your business complete an application for training assistance. (LINK TO GTI -http://www.mainecareercenter.com/business/GTIlink.htm)

If you need to hire 8 or more individuals, Maine's Community College System recruits  and trains potential hires through a program that you help plan. Our staff can connect you with one of our partners at the Community College closest to your business, or you can visit their website at (LINK TO MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM- www.mtcs.net )

  • Field Training/Internship experience
The Maine Department of Human Services administers a program which allows individuals who lack significant work experience to work 13 to 26 weeks/20 hours per week to learn additional skills and gain valuable experience. There is no cost to the employer and it provides an excellent opportunity to assess a potential candidate for a job opening. CEI can set this up for you.
  • Supported Employment

This is an opportunity for business and industry to effectively hire people with disabilities or with other barriers to employment. Programs include professional job coaching, worksite modification/accommodations, quality job matches, and company and disabled worker education. (Link to CCSI,

Transforming Work

The bottle room at Hannaford Brothers' Forest Avenue store gets very hectic. Maine's busiest supermarket processes more than a thousand returnables every day.

It can be tough keeping up with the constant flow of plastic, aluminum, and glass, but Charlie Wass is a hard worker. He arrives on time, follows directions, and gets the job done. When Charlie's day is over, he likes to "feel he's done as much as he can". Charlie doesn't work for Hannaford, though. He is an employee of CEI Staffing Services, Inc. (CSSI), a new nonprofit CEI subsidiary.
Working
As a person with a disability, Charlie wasn't often given opportunities to grow in previous jobs. With the support of his CSSI job coach, Charlie is trying new things--fixing machines, using the computer and even helping customers. Charlie has grown so much at Hannaford that he plans to apply for a permanent job.

And, perhaps try bagging.
