Culture Change PDF Print E-mail

What is Culture Change?  In the long-term care industry, "culture change" refers to re-creating caregiving practices designed around both the consumer and the caregiver.

The work done with one of the participating nursing homes in particular has shown very positive outcomes, sending reverberations throughout the direct care field, both in Maine and the nation.  The nursing home director and staff, along with PHI consultants, have made presentations at various health care meetings, eliciting great interest in replicating the work at other institutions.  The Center for Medicare and Medicaid's American Health Quality Association has just included this nursing home in a film about workplace culture change that will be shown nationally.

CEI is presently collecting data on the cost savings experienced by the nursing home through greater worker retention and reduced medications as a direct result of the work.
